Senior Studio Operator

We’re looking for a skilled and creative Studio Operator to support our Content and News Operations from our Christchurch studios. If you’re passionate about public broadcasting and thrive in a dynamic production environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Te Mahi – About the job

As a Senior Studio Operator, you’ll play a key role in the production and delivery of high-quality radio and multimedia content. You’ll work closely with RNZ’s Content Group to ensure our audiences receive compelling programming wherever and whenever they tune in.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting live radio production and content publishing across platforms
  • Recording music and other in-studio sessions
  • Audio post production and multimedia editing
  • Participating in outside broadcasts, including live music events and radio shows
  • Collaborating with colleagues across RNZ to deliver seamless production
  • Staying current with emerging technologies and contributing to innovation
  • Able to work flexible hours, including some evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Ōu Pūkenga - About You

  • Proven experience as a Sound Engineer or Studio Operator
  • Strong expertise and knowledge in operating audio studios and equipment for diverse production needs
  • A proactive approach to learning and applying new technologies
  • Excellent studio engineering and audio production skills
  • Knowledge and application of audio editing software and digital production tools
  • Creative problem-solving and lateral thinking
  • Ability to work efficiently and adapt to changing priorities
  • A team player who builds positive, respectful relationships
