Producer/Reporter, Morning Report


Te Tūranga – The opportunity  

RNZ is looking for a talented and motivated Producer/Reporter to join the team behind Morning Report, our flagship weekday news programme.

Te Mahi – About the job

This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where you’ll help shape the national conversation each morning. You’ll work closely with a collaborative production team to develop sharp story ideas, source compelling interviews, and produce content for both radio and digital platforms.

The role will involve:

  • Developing and producing compelling news content for live broadcast
  • Sourcing and preparing interviews, briefing notes, and story angles
  • Contributing to RNZ’s digital and social media presence
  • Collaborating with colleagues across RNZ News and wider teams
  • Upholding RNZ’s editorial standards and values

Ōu Pūkenga - About You

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about news and comfortable working in a fast-paced, live broadcast environment. You’ll be confident juggling multiple tasks, thinking on your feet, and collaborating with a tight-knit team to deliver high-quality journalism.

You’ll also have:

  • A strong interest in current affairs and news, both national and globally.
  • Experience in live production and creating digital content
  • Excellent communication and planning skills
  • Audio editing skills, field recording experience is a bonus
  • Familiarity with RNZ’s Editorial Policy and media law
