Te Mahi – About the job

The camera operator plays an integral role in helping help us bring New Zealand and the Pacific’s stories to life as we develop our digital platforms.

Much of your time will be spent shooting and editing news, lifestyle & social content for our digital platforms.  We are unique, and your work will help reflect this.

You will:

  • Direct, shoot and edit high-quality images and video for rnz.co.nz;
  • Evaluate and prepare still images and video from outside providers for the RNZ website;
  • Contribute to effective, accurate and up to date video and image archives.
  • Have a keen sense of appropriate story-telling techniques for a wide variety of content
  • Work well alongside colleagues in helping them find the best way to tell their stories in a visual way

Ōu Pūkenga - About You

We’re looking an ideas person who can work collaboratively to ensure our digital platforms are telling great stories and continues to grow.

You will:

  • Have a reputation for producing video and still photos at a professional level for broadcast;
  • Have worked in a live news environment; 
  • Be comfortable with features as well as news, social media and some music shoots; 
  • Be calm under pressure;
  • Be active in social media; 
  • Have experience using Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects; 
  • Be very organised (particularly around video archiving, image management and rights).

We’re looking for someone who is energised, people-orientated, innovative, and with keen ideas and someone who is excited by a fast-moving environment and is ready to travel at the drop of a hat.
