RNZ Pacific provides vital news and information services, via its shortwave broadcasts to the South Pacific. It also provides a wide range of programmes to listeners in New Zealand, the Pacific and beyond.

We’re committed to serving the public interest with integrity, depth, and diversity and we’re looking for a skilled Bulletins Editor & Presenter to help shape the voice of RNZ Pacific.

Te Mahi – About the job

As part of our RNZ Pacific team, you’ll play a key role in presenting news to a professional and high standard. You’ll:

  • Select and sub-edit stories for RNZ Pacific bulletins
  • Collaborate with the RNZ Pacific News Editor and wider team to prioritise and structure content
  • Ensure bulletins reflect the depth and tone of RNZ Pacific
  • Maintain a strong overview of Pacific regional, national, and international news
  • Apply sound editorial judgment and knowledge of media law to all content
  • Work closely with other RNZ teams to ensure consistency and quality across all platforms
  • Meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and clarity

Ōu Pūkenga - About You

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A journalism qualification or equivalent gained through relevant work experience
  • A deep understanding and interest in Pacific communities and current affairs
  • Strong subbing or reporting background, ideally in radio
  • On-air news reading experience
  • Excellent command of English and fast, accurate writing and keyboard skills
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work under pressure

This is a fixed-term contract from December 2025 until August 2026, working full-time hours and based in either Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.
