Videographer and Editor

We’re looking for a videographer/editor to work with reporters on RNZ’s long form journalism team to tell news and current affairs stories.

You will make videos to run on RNZ’s website, social media channels, and multi-media shows, such as Checkpoint.

Some videos will be in depth projects, involving five or more shoots (that run to 15 minutes or more  in length), that you will have time to plan out, polish and perfect, while others will be quick turn-around news packages or interviews, shot, edited and broadcast the same day.

You will have 5+ years’ experience working in the media, be happy to shoot stills as well as video, and know Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop.

You will know what makes an arresting story, both visually and narratively, and enjoy working closely with journalists to make compelling content. Sometimes you’ll work with highly-experienced ex-TV reporters and other times you’ll be out with reporters who have little experience with video, and you’ll need to advise them on what will and won’t work.

You will need to be resourceful, innovative and calm under pressure to, at times, make shoots work in difficult situations, and finish edits on tight deadlines.

You’ll be joining a tight team, who are dedicated to, and proud of, their work, but also spend plenty of time laughing.

This is a permanent 32 hours/week position, based in Auckland.

Applications close: Sunday 21 July
