Test Lead


Te Tūranga - The Opportunity

The RNZ Product & Development team is a small and supportive cross-functional team of designers, developers, support and project staff. Collectively, the team deliver and maintain accessible, modern, performant and user-focused digital experiences that RNZ's audience love. 

Your focus will be on testing the design and build for compelling digital products that make the most of the high-quality content RNZ produces. 

As Test Lead you will use your skills and experience to help the team implement appropriate changes that improve their approach to testing. Your work will include collaborating with the team to:

  • Understand and adapt workflows, 
  • Review and updatissue and test tooling and templates, and 
  • Mature the team’s approach to requirements gathering and documentation.

Ōu Pūkenga - About you

It is essential that you have:

  • An International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Foundation Certificate 
  • Any related degree-level qualification, industry qualification or equivalent experience in leading testing as part of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

We will also be looking for the following proven experience:

  • Testing at a senior and/or leadership level.
  • Analysing and influencing changes to team workflows, tooling and processes to mature testing practices.
  • Flexibility in your approach to work, acknowledging the capability and capacity of your colleagues.
  • Understanding of what good Requirements look like and can help gather and refine them to best support testing.
  • Creating and working with appropriate Acceptance Criteria and Definitions of Done.
  • Understanding of testing for usability and accessibility.
  • Understanding of what good automated and performance testing looks like.
