RNZ has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled senior reporter with a track record of breaking original stories, who is confident and delivers high quality material in breaking news events and for assigned work.

Te Mahi – About the job

RNZ is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic senior journalist with demonstrable experience with breaking news and a track record of original stories for radio, current affairs programmes and digital and social media platforms.

Your experience working at a senior level will mean that you are organised, efficient and reliable, using your initiative to report on a mix of original and assigned stories, and have a comprehensive knowledge of important issues facing New Zealanders.  

You will be ready to hit the road, relying on key contacts and sources to drive story ideas and deliver first-class journalism.

You will:

• Have superior writing, interviewing and live broadcasting skills
• Be a skilled digital reporter
• Bring accuracy, attention to detail, curiosity and creativity to your work
• File written, audio and visual content to tight radio and digital deadlines
• Be flexible and able to commit to shift work
