Te Tūranga – The opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented journalist to join our team in the parliamentary gallery, focusing on providing unbiased and informative Political News and coverage to the New Zealand public.
Te Mahi – About the job
RNZ is looking for a journalist with demonstrable experience with breaking news and a track record of original stories for radio, current affairs programmes and digital and social media platforms.
Your experience will mean that you are organised, efficient and reliable, using your initiative to report on a mix of stories that matter. You will be ready to hit the road, relying on key contacts and sources to drive story ideas and deliver first-class journalism.
Ōu Pūkenga – About You
You will:
- Have a tertiary journalism qualification or equivalent experience
- Have superior writing, interviewing and live broadcasting skills
- Bring accuracy, attention to detail, curiosity, speed, and creativity to your work
- Ability to write clear, accurate and concise news copy to a tight deadline
- Knowledge of New Zealand politics, key players, trends and the main political issues of relevance to New Zealanders
- Demonstrable experience breaking original news stories over multiple platforms
- Be flexible and able to commit to shift work
