RNZ is New Zealand’s only non-commercial public multimedia organisation and exists to serve the public interest by providing unique, impartial services and content to all New Zealanders.

Part of RNZ’s strategy involves continuing to expand our business reporting team to connect with a growing and increasingly diverse audience.

In this role you will:

  • Research and cover stories from the Business sector. You will be reporting for a Business audience but also a General one with an interest in the sector.
  • Foster network of contacts to break news stories. 
  • Be a part of developing our storytelling across radio and digital. Understand the strengths of each platform to engage audiences.  
  • Provide audio stories for out bulletins and news programmes using your voice, editing and production skills.
  • Use your proven interest in covering business news.
  • Accomplish high quality work within deadlines and according to RNZ editorial policy and standards.
  • Maintain strong relationships with newsroom staff and working collaboratively with the team.

Ōu Pūkenga - About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in journalism.
  • Solid Business and Economics knowledge.
  • Experience in Business and Economics journalism. 
  • Digital writing skills.
  • Radio skills – including sub-editing and presentation.
  • Live-to-air skills including the ability to answer questions and present on air.
  • Ability to produce packaging including audio, sound (colour) and voice.
