Do you want to play a leading role in shaping national news coverage on New Zealand’s only independent, public interest media organisation?
We are looking for two senior journalists with the confidence, integrity and flair to lead a skilled nation-wide team of multimedia reporters from our Auckland newsroom. These roles will be responsible for nurturing and developing staff and in delivering high-quality news and analysis across multiple platforms.
Bureau Chiefs are part of the daily news management team, responsible for identifying the day’s top stories and engaging our audience on our digital and radio channels as well as in social media, in conjunction with our News Directors and Digital News Editor.
Staff management and mentoring experience is extremely important, along with strong interpersonal skills, significant reporting experience in a multi-media environment, sharp and sound editorial judgement and a track record of breaking and developing stories.
A background in radio is preferable, as is demonstrable experience of digital media. A broadcast quality voice is essential. Shift work is required involving rotating early and late shifts.
